Current eruption This eruptive phase began on December 26, 2025, and has included intermittent lava fountaining, lava effusion, and ash emissions from Etnaās summit craters. Activity levels fluctuate, with periods of increased explosivity followed by quieter intervalsābehavior typical of Etna. Lava flows have primarily moved toward the Valle del Bove, a broad depression on the eastern flank that frequently channels eruptive activity away from nearby communities. Ash plumes and incandescent ejecta may be visible depending on wind direction, weather, and lighting conditions.
